My wife and I would like to thank String Theory and all the Staff there for giving our son, Jacob Graham, the chance to express and further cultivate his love for music. By awarding him their first scholarship they have given him the chance to experience a world of music that he otherwise may not have had! We are so proud of him and look forward to what the future holds for him! Thank you once again!

"I was very anxious to start private music lessons two years ago seeing as it was the first time I had ever done so. After searching around for piano teachers in the area, I stumbled upon String Theory School of Music and went to a trial lesson with Josi Davis. I loved it! She and the rest of the String Theory family welcomed me right away and were so encouraging and fun to be around. They not only made my learning experience fun but really delivered on the education - I now attend Berklee College of Music for voice and feel comfortable accompanying myself on keys where before String Theory I hadn't even played at all!"

"One memory I have of my piano lessons with Josi Davis at String Theory stands out quite a bit. It was the week of my last lesson before my Berklee audition - Josi had taken a break from piano teaching to help me prepare for my voice audition.
I showed up to my lesson feeling incredibly overwhelmed and even a bit sick. I was terribly anxious in the week leading up to my audition, so when I walked in to my lesson and told Josi I was nervous, she took an extra 15 minutes to lie on the floor outside of our practice room with me - I kid you not - and lead in some simple yoga and meditation techniques. I felt instantly more relaxed, and I still go back to those techniques when I'm feeling stressed. Josi is not only so knowledgable in music theory and performance, but she is an incredibly positive and encouraging force whose energy always helped push me on."

String Theory School of Music is a wonderful music school. They have a wealth of talented teachers, with lessons offered in a supportive, motivating environment. String Theory provides a wide array of performance opportunities for their students of all ages in comfortable, casual, yet professional atmospheres and venues.
I want to express my gratitude for the wonderful teachers and staff at String Theory School of Music. Our daughter is in her first year of college at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and we thank Josi for sharing both her vocal and piano expertise as well as her constant support. Josi was tremendously helpful as she encouraged our daughter to follow her passion and worked with her through the college audition process.
We would recommend String Theory to anyone else who seeks to explore and expand their musical creativity!

Our son, Conner, started kinderband at age 3 and a year later, his enthusiasm has not diminished. It's a wonderful way to introduce children to music, and more specifically, playing instruments, so that they learn musical terms and theory but in a fun, playful and age appropriate manner. Our daughter similarly enjoyed kinderband but at age 5 decided she was ready for piano lessons and is enjoying her lessons with Josi immensely.
Thanks Amy and Chris for your great school.

As an “Older Guy” starting to take music lessons, I have to say that my experience with the String Theory School of Music has surpassed all expectations, from the initial request for information to my lesson last week. I am particularly impressed with the emphasis on providing an ensemble experience with other students. Chris and Amy Leigh are clearly dedicated to their mission of providing a student centered school. My instructor Mike F., is a master of his craft and genuinely enjoys teaching others. Though finding the time to practice as much as I should has been a challenge- the fact that I am playing the electric bass guitar at all continues to amaze me, and is a huge source of enjoyment. Thank you to all,
Dave G.
Having studied guitar many years I have had five different teachers. When I moved to this area of the state in 2006 I began a search for a music school and tried several until a friend recommended String Theory School of Music. From the start, owner and guitar teacher Chris Leigh was professional, personable and extremely competent. As a school teacher I am aware that many people can do something without being able to teach it. Chris does both incredibly well. I am fortunate to have found a music school where the teachers are truly interested in my progress as a musician.

" When I came to the String Theory School of Music my goal was to put together a CD of my original music. My teacher, Chris Leigh, encouraged and worked with me to better understand music structure and how it applied to my work. Auditioning songs at the monthly coffeehouse with the school band of teachers has been a thrill, especially because these events showcase the variety of music played by the other students. The end result of this "fantasy camp" adventure was the recording and mixing of the songs. String Theory teachers brought their expertise and devotion to the process with the result that I have a CD that greatly surpasses my expectations. What a great experience."

To learn a musical instrument, you need a knowledgeable, patient teacher. Chris Leigh, my guitar teacher, has the knowledge and experience to make anyone excel at learning music and playing the guitar. He is a true professional. With diligent practice and Chris’ guidance, I can see myself improving week by week despite my advanced age (54). A sheet of music no longer looks baffling to me. If you have ever wanted to learn to read music and play an instrument, take lessons at the String Theory School of Music.

I have been taking lessons from Chris Leigh for just about ten years now, before the lessons I could not read music and knew few grips and scales here and there. Since taking lessons from Chris I can read music, I have a fundamental understanding of rhythmic concepts, melodic concepts, harmonic concepts and a strong foundation in music theory and chord construction. I have played in a classical music ensemble that the school has provided, as well as several live performances the school has provided. I have also been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to teach guitar at the school. I can honestly say that String Theory School of Music has been a wonderful experience and I feel very fortunate to be involved with such a genuinely nice and musically gifted group of people. I attribute my musical growth from the past ten years directly to String Theory School of Music and Chris Leigh.
Sincerely

Our 3 girls (ages 12, 10, 8) have been taking piano lessons at String Theory since our move to this area. Absolutely the best piano teacher we have ever had (this is our fourth).
Josi is kind, patient, flexible, and most importantly makes piano fun!!! She also gives them opportunities to explore other areas of music. The entire staff here is dedicated to children developing a love and appreciation for music.

We have been consistently surprised each month when we hear our son's performances at String Theory's coffee houses.
Chris Leigh is an outstanding teacher and performer who has a gift for inspiring his students to develop as musicians and stage performers.
